Anxiety and negative self talk have become a part of our everyday lives in the 21st century. Between our fast-paced world and the recent wave of the pandemic, every day can seem as though it is riddled with stressors. When experienced frequently, stressors both big and small can lead to feelings of unease and unpleasant self talk.
Some of your daily stressors may look like:
- Poor sleeping patterns
- Unhealthy eating habits
- Disagreements with your significant other and or family
- Lack of financial stability
- Dissatisfaction with your job or workplace
- Inability to relax and rest
- Cluttered or dirty living space
- Unsupportive family members
- Multiple of these stressors happening at once
On their own, each stressor can be managed and often solutions can be established to remedy them. The challenge is when an individual has many of these daily stressors in their everyday life.
This build-up of stress and frustration can lead to us experiencing anxiety. Commonly with anxiety, we will experience feelings of uneasiness, deep fear, irritability and obsessive thoughts. On a physiological level, we may experience headaches, chest pains, shortness of breath and difficulty sleeping.
Over the past year we've experienced extreme levels of stress in our lives with the fear and uncertainty caused by the pandemic. Not to mention the financial hardships most of us have endured due to the lockdowns. These extreme stressors not only cause us to panic, in fact they directly impact our survival and therefore can lead to greater amplifications of our anxiety symptoms.
As a collective, most of us have had to ask ourselves questions like:
- Will I contract and die from the virus?
- Are my family and I being safe from contracting the virus?
- Will I be able to pay the mortgage for my house and keep my standard of living?
- Will I lose my job? Will I need to close my business?
- When will I be able to visit and see my family members who live abroad?
- How will we survive this?
When our fundamental needs for safety and survival are shaken, this creates a physiological response in our nervous system that manifests itself as anxiety attacks, physical body pains, weakened immune systems and paranoia.
That's what we're addressing in this webinar: Ways to reduce your experiences with anxiety as well as to give you tips and tools to eliminate the negative self-talk.
As human beings, there will always be stressors that we may have to face in the day to day, however, they don’t have to take over our lives. This will allow us to begin moving in the direction of the solutions we desire. In addition, when we are in a space of calmness and relaxation, we are more likely to make logical and practical decisions, instead of acting from a place of panic and fear.
